Our Story
Nearly two centuries of faith, resilience, and family — rooted in Thomasville, Georgia.
The Descendants of Randal & Nancy Hopkins

Springhill Missionary Baptist Church — Thomasville, Georgia
The Hopkins family story begins with Randal Hopkins, born circa 1829 in Georgia, and his wife Nancy (Susie) Scott, born circa 1846 in Virginia. Together they put down roots in Thomasville, Thomas County, Georgia, where they would raise twelve children and build a legacy that endures to this day.
Randal Hopkins lived nearly 93 years — from 1829 to January 21, 1922 — and in that lifetime witnessed the births of all twelve of his children, the marriages of his sons and daughters, and the first generation of grandchildren who would carry his name and his faith forward into the 20th century.
Their twelve children — Emaline, T, Lula, Gilbert, Lucindy, Hattie, Missouria, Benjamin, Ananias, Tempie, Carrie, and the youngest, Rev. David Earle Hopkins — formed the branches of what is now a sprawling family tree that spans five-plus generations and every corner of the United States.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
